Sale World Cup

Shane's final event for the year was Sale World Cup where the weather gods were not forgiving! Gavin Chester and his team did a fantastic job to accomodate the riders and the course builders produced rideable courses in difficult conditions. Shane had a successful show with Lulu and Caspar placing 3rd and 9th respectively in the Futurity. Elle jumped double clean in the D Grade Championships to place 3rd.

Adelaide International Three Day Event

We made the long trip down to be greeted with the warm Adelaide weather, temperatures soared for dressage day reaching a maximum of 40 degress C. Cargo produced a good dressage test and followed it up with a great cross country run and one of few clear showjumping rounds. Cargo finished 4th just adding a few time penalties to his score.

Wodonga World Cup

  • Caspar started in the World Cup which was built by Leeson Sirett in the small indoor arena. Caspar finished 9th in the tight and technical World Cup track.

Shepparton World Cup

  • Fairbanks Caspar - Had a great start to the Victorian Show run placing 11th in the World Cup with just one rail in both rounds. He also jumped a triple clear round in the Futurity and was just out of the placings.


  • Fairbanks Lulu - Jumped a triple clear round in the Futurity which included a 1.50m vertical to place 10th.

Australian Showjumping Championships

  • What a fantastic weekend for the Davidson Team! Shane went down with a team of 5 horses including 3 young horses ~ Fairbanks C'est La Vie, Fairbanks Cappuccino, and Kinnordy Grandola who all jumped well in the small ring.


  • Fairbanks Caspar and Fairbanks Lulu jumped well in the first two rounds of the Futurity and ended the show well placing 3rd and 5th respectively in a tough final!

Scone CNC ODE

  • Fairbanks Cargo - Two Star 7th. Cargo had a very good run cross country to go clear with a few time penalties and just have one rail down in the showjumping.


  • Fairbanks Elle - One Star 1st. Elle produced a good dressage test to be in second position after this phase. She then went on to jump one of few clear rounds in the showjumping and go clear cross country to win the class.

Glen Haven Park Grand Prix
A very big thank you to the Hamood's for putting on such a fantastic event. This is a big job with the event being well run and riders very well looked after. All the horses jumped well throughout the show with a bit of wet weather on Saturday, things cleared up for the main day on Sunday. The Hamood's along with the Barastoc team had been running a Young Horse Series during the Year to promote the development of young horses. The Series final was held at Glen Haven Park with our two 6 year olds placing in the top six. Fairbanks Elle was placed equal third for the year and Fairbanks Lulu placed 6th.

Caboolture World Cup
After leaving Brisbane Show at midday we travelled directly to Caboolture to start in the Future Stars on Friday afternoon. We had four horses start in this class for four clear rounds taking all the horses into the jump off. Caspar was one of the first to jump off and set a very quick clear round which proved too quick to beat leaving him the winner of the Futurity. Cargo also jumped a good clear round to be placed as well.

On Saturday we had the 1.20m class early with Elle jumping clear in both rounds to be placed 5th and also gain points for the 6 year old Barastoc Series. Lulu jumped a super clear round in the C Grade class and came back in the jump-off to jump another quick clear round to take 2nd place. Elle was clear in the first round of the D Grade to take her through to the D Grade Championship on Sunday. Cargo and Caspar jumped well in the rain on Saturday afternoon in the C Grade to be put into the Championship class for Sunday.

On Sunday Elle jumped double clear rounds to be placed in the Top 10 for the D Grade Championships. Cargo jumped a super clear round in the C Grade just having the last fence down in the jump-off.

The highlight for the day was Caspar starting in his first World Cup at the age of 7! He jumped a fantastic round, demonstrating his scope through the combinations and showing potential for the future.

Brisbane Royal Show
This was the first year we took the young horses of the team, Elle and Lulu to the EKKA now having stepped up to the bigger classes. Both jumped well during the show with the atmosphere being a little overwhelming for the young horses at times. Capsar had a good show placing in two out of his three classes. Lulu produced several clear rounds, being just out of the places. Unfortuately due to a minor injury Catargo was not able to take part in the Show.

Toowoomba World Cup
This was a fantastic event with the bad weather staying away for the duration of the show. We had a full truck with the young horses coming along for the ride to compete in the smaller classes. The young stallion C'est La Vie and mare Cappuccino competed in the 90cm classes with double clear rounds. Lulu placed in the very competitive Future Stars class with only 6 clear rounds making it through to the jump off. She was also placed in the Amateur class with Mattea. Catargo placed in the 1.35m on the first day and Caspar had a fantastic show jumping well in the bigger classes to be placed in the 1.40m on the second day.

Sunshine Coast Showjumping July Show
Thank you to Paul and Sue Raymont and the rest of the organising committee for providing us with such a great event. The main classes were run out in the Show Ring and the surface jumped very well. The young horses C'est La Vie and Cappuccino jumped well around the smaller tracks showing us their potential for the future. Elle, Lulu and Cargo stepped out for the 1.20m class not lowering a rail in the first round. Elle produced two clear rounds and a very quick jump off to finish in the top ten. The 1.30m was held on Saturday night due to large class sizes - Shane had Catargo, Caspar and Lulu in the 1.30m for three clear rounds.
The 1.45m class was held on Sunday with Catargo producing one of few clear rounds in the first round. Lulu and Cargo jumped double clear rounds in the 1.25m class.

Queensland Country Championships @ Gatton Show
Thank you to the organisers for putting on a great event. The ground was fantastic, the gear looked great and everything was well organised. All the horses jumped well throughout the show. Elle and Lulu jumped double clean on the Friday in the 1.20m followed by Cargo jumping a great double clean in the 1.30m to finish 7th. Caspar and Catargo jumped well in the 1.30m class getting ready for the Grand Prix the following day.

On Saturday we started with the Grand Prix - This was Caspar's first attempt at Grand Prix level showing us he is capable of handling the bigger tracks. Catargo jumped around well just to have one rail down. Elle and Lulu jumped well in the 1.25m with Elle jumping one of few clear rounds to end up in eigth place.

Kooralbyn CNC ODE

  • Fairbanks Cargo - Two Star 2nd. This was Cargo's first time competing at this level, he produced a great dressage test and clear cross country round to place 2nd.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Pre-Novice 1st. Elle started off with a great dressage test which was followed by a clear cross country and clear showjumping round to take first place and finish on her dressage score.


  • Fairbanks Cappuccino - Pre-Intro 2nd. This was Cappy's second event and she started off with a cracking dressage score of 82.5%. She then produced a clear cross country and clear showjumping round to finish in first place.


  • A big congratulations to Nicola for placing 2nd and Karen for placing 6th - Well done girls!!! Thank you for all your help throughout the weekend!

Gunnedah Winter Showjumping Festival

  • This was our first trip down to Gunnedah for their much talked about event and it certainly did not disappoint. The ground was fantastic, the courses tough but fair, and the committee did a great job to organise a well run event. All the horses jumped well with Caspar stepping up to the plate and competing in all the main classes for the weekend. Catargo jumped well during the event with a few minor placings in the big classes. Lulu did not touch a rail all weekend until the final jump off and Elle put in some good performances after moving up to the 1.20m classes.

Melbourne International Three Day Event

  • After making the trek down to Werribee to be greeted with the lovely Victorian weather things did improve on Dressage day with the sun finally coming out! Cargo did a good test to be sitting in the top third going into Cross Country. He produced a very accurate and quick Cross Country round amongst the fog to jump clear and under with about 20 seconds to spare. He then went on to jump a great clear showjumping round to move up and finish a credible 6th.

  • Fairbanks Cargo - One Star ~ 2nd. This was Cargo's first One Star class for the year finishing on his Dressage score after producing a very nice cross country round and super clear showjumping.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Competed in her 3rd One Star competition. Elle jumped a great clear in the showjumping and had a great cross country run.

Darling Downs Interschool Championships

Davidson Equestrian sponsored the Interschool Championships for the first time. This event included Dressage, Combined Training, Showjumping and Showing. It was great to see the students out in their school colours supporting each other and showing great sportsmanship. A big congratulations must go to the parents for putting the time in to run such an excellent event.

Sunshine Coast May Showjumping Weekend

All horses jumped very well this weekend with the use of the excellent indoor and outdoor sand arenas at Nambour Showgrounds. Caspar jumped a very nice clear around the 1.45m, SteelyDan produced a great round in the 1.15m, Lulu did not have a fence down for the entire weekend, and the young horses C'est La Vie and Cappuccino attended their first competition. A big thankyou to the organisers for putting on another good show.

Toowoomba Royal
The organisers of Toowoomba Royal did a fantastic job and a special thankyou must go to the Jump Steward David Finch for a great event.

All horses jumped well throughout the show, including the new addition of Dan to the team.

  • Fairbanks Caspar - Produced some very nice clear rounds during the show which earnt him a 4th place in the Mini Prix and 7th in the Furturity.


  • Fairbanks Lulu - Had two great rounds in the 1.25m resulting in a 6th place as well as two double clear rounds in the 6 year old class.


  • Fairbanks Catargo - Jumped well during the show and was 4th in the 1.35m.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Only attended the first two days of the show due to an eventing competition on the weekend and was 7th in the 1.15m producing two correct rounds.


  • Dan - Had a great round in his first 1.15m class.

Pittsworth Show
This was the first Showjumping competition for the year and all the horses jumped very well for their first start!

  • Fairbanks Elle - Jumped very well around the 1.05m and produced a nice clear round in the 1.30m.

NADEC Dressage Twilight Series

  • Dynamic D. - This was her first competition where she placed 2nd in her Preliminary test. This is a great result for a young horse and we are looking forward to breaking in her daughter Lacara D. (Sire: Lord Loxley) in the coming year.

Sydney Summer Classic World Cup Show

  • Fairbanks Catargo - Jumped well the first day in the 1.30m Power and Speed. The World Cup class was one of the toughest for the year and also featured a open water jump. He jumped a super first round and ended up in 9th place.

  • Fairbanks Elle - Jumped a super round in the 1.20m on the first day and then went on to post two more double clear rounds in the Amateur classes to end up 7th in the Championship class.


  • Fairbanks Lulu - Jumped a great clear round in the tough Furturity class to make it through to the final.


  • Fairbanks Cargo - Jumped very well around the 1.25m class and was also double clear in the Amateur class on the first day.

Tonimbuk World Cup Show

  • Fairbanks Catargo - Had a great show jumping double clear in the 1.35m to place 6th and posted a quick round in the 1.40m to end up 3rd. The World Cup was again another tough class with Catargo jumping two great rounds to place 9th.


  • Fairbanks Caspar - Jumped very well over the event and competed in his first 1.35m indoors to jump double clean and take 7th place. This is a fantastic effort for this young horse. He also posted a very quick round to take 2nd place in the C Grade event on the Saturday and was also 4th in the C Grade Championship on the Sunday.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Had a good show jumping well around the D Grade tracks and jumped in her first Furturity (1.30m class).


  • Fairbanks Cargo - Placed 4th on the Friday jumping a double clear round. He jumped two super rounds in the C Grade Championship to just miss out on a place.


  • Fairbanks Lulu - Clear rounds in her D Grade classes and also competed in her first Furturity class.

Sale World Cup Show

  • Fairbanks Catargo - Jumped a super round in the 1.30m to place 6th then went on to jump a good first round in the World Cup Qualifier to place 9th.


  • Fairbanks Caspar - Had his first Mini Prix start for the VIC events and jumped a lovely clear first round.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Was double clear in the D Grade on the Friday just missing out on a place. She then went on to place 5th in the D Grade on the Saturday out of 150 horses which was a excellent result for this young horse.


  • Fairbanks Lulu - Had another good show not touching a rail for the entire weekend.


  • Fairbanks Cargo - Jumped well around the 1.20m and C Grade classes just having one rail down in each event.

Wodonga World Cup Show
We left for our Victorian Showjumping trip and first stop was Wodonga World Cup which was a fantastic event. This was the first event in several months for most of the horses and we were very pleased with how they performed.

  • Fairbanks Catargo - Had a successful show placing 2nd in the 1.35m this being his first class for the show. He then went on to place 3rd in the very competitive Betty McVean memorial A & B Grade Championship.


  • Fairbanks Caspar - 6th in the 1.25m Open Indoor class.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Jumped a super clear round in the 1.25m Open class outside and then went on to post a fast round in the 1.10m class to finish 5th. She also jumped a double clear round in the D Grade.


  • Fairbanks Lulu - Jumped three super clear rounds over the 1.20m and D Grade tracks over the course of the event.


  • Fairbanks Cargo - Jumped a super double clear round the first day in the 1.10m and jumped well in the 1.25m on the Saturday.

Davidson Clinics
This is the second clinic Davidson Equestrian has run this year where Shane Davidson's students came to prepare themselves for the upcoming Interschool State Championships. Riders received two lessons per day and were also involved in daily tutorials which covered topics such as competition preparation, horse health and fitness and presentation. Riders were presented with prizes at the end of the clinic which was based on level of improvement and commitment over the four days. We have our sponsors to thank for these prizes ~ Smooch's Browbands at Derrymore, Saddleworld Australia, Vetsearch and Coprice.

  • Fairbanks Juliet - 1st 90cm ideal time and 7th in the Foxhunter double clear.


  • Fairbanks Elle - Posted some good rounds in the D Grade and 1.20m classes.

  • Fairbanks Elle - Pre Novice 3rd. This was Elle's first Pre-Novice start and was clear cross country and showjumping.


  • We were very happy with how Fairbanks Cargo and Fairbanks Juliet went in their first One Star start.

  • Shane and Mattea both had great lessons with Rod and hope he will be heading back up north in the near future.

Dressage and Jumping with the Stars 2010

  • Davidson Equestrian had a great show at DJWTS with Fairbanks Lulu placing 2nd overall in the 5 year old jumping division. This was a very competitive class showing the improvement in young showjumping horses in Australia.


  • Fairbanks Catargo also had a good show placing 3rd in the Mini-Prix warm up and just missing out on a place in the Mini-Prix.


  • Fairbanks Cargo competed in his first Mini-Prix showing us that smaller horses can still jump the big tracks. He was clear in the Mini-Prix warm up ending up 8th and had one down in the 1.40m Mini Prix class.

Davidson Equestrian 4 Day Clinic
Students participated in dressage and showjumping lessons along with tutorials in veterinary care, worming and nutrition. The clinic ended with an in-house competition on the last day with all riders showing a marked improvement over the 4 days. We look forward to our next clinic - watch this space for dates.
